Forensic Foundations is offering a two day expert witness training programme.

The presenters are Anna Davey and Michael Holohan.

Anna Davey was a member of the State Forensic Science Laboratory team that introduced DNA profiling to Victoria for criminal casework. In that role, she spent many a happy hour in the witness box.In 2000, Anna joined the National Institute of Forensic Science as Deputy Director and in 2008, she established Forensic Foundations. a specialised service providing tools for both non-legal and legal practitioners working at the interface between expert knowledge and legal argument.

In addition to Forensic Foundations, Anna is involved in teaching at a number of Australian Universities. Anna is a Council member of the Victorian Chapter, Australian Academy of Forensic Sciences.Anna holds the following qualifications: MSc, Grad Dip Legal Studies, Grad Cert Public Sector Management and Cert IV in training and assessment.

Anna will be presenting on days 1 & 2.

 

Michael Holohan is a Barrister of Law in private practice at the Queensland Bar. He is the holder of a Master of Laws, Master of Science (Forensic Science), Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science degrees. He has also completed the Advanced Advocacy Course at Keble College, University of Oxford, England.He specializes in criminal law, administrative law (industrial relations), trade practices (product liability) and family law. He has defended various criminal matters including murder, armed robbery, deprivation of liberty, assault, sexual assault, computer crime, fraud, drug and traffic offences. He also specializes in the areas of forensic/expert evidence, electronic/computer evidence and laboratory accreditation.He has also previously performed duties as a scientific officer with the Queensland Police Service and the
AFP, as a Senior Legal Officer with the Crime and Misconduct Commission Queensland, specialising in telecommunications interception and administrative law.He is also a sessional staff member with the QUT Legal Practice Course and Faculty of Science and Technology Brisbane.

Michael will be presenting on day 2.
